The Autism Creature started out as an MS paint doodle created by Twitter user @onion_fleur (Formally @acmeiku). It was first posted in 2021 and became popular on Tumblr in 2022. It inspired fanart, memes, and even spawned a video where the creature is shown with a "YIPPEE!!!" sound effect.

(The video the sound effect is from is usually represented by a kid saying that he is allowed to drink cola and play Fortnite. He then says the iconic line "YIPPEE!!!")

Since then, it has been referred to as the mascot for Autism as it represents the experiences and perspectives of many people on the Autism spectrum.
